This page lists tourism organizations in Asia. The purpose of this page is to show different types of organizations, structures and events that Asian destinations establish to manage and promote themselves.

This is not an exhaustive list of tourism organizations, rather a sample list providing an overview of tourism governance structures in Asia.

 

ARMENIA

State Tourism Committee of Armenia
The State Tourism Committee of the Republic of Armenia (STCRA) in Yerevan is a state institution founded by the Government of the Republic of Armenia, responsible for promoting Armenia worldwide as a tourism destination. It is affiliated to the Ministry of Economic Development and Investment of the Republic of Armenia, developing and implementing the policy of the Government of the Republic of Armenia in the field of tourism.

AZERBAIJAN

AZTA
The mission of AZTA – Azerbaijan Tourism Association, with offices in Baku, is to support the development of the tourism sector by addressing industry issues, implementing tourism-related projects and by fostering the dissemination of best practices in tourism, through means such as conferences, seminars and forums, as well as exchanges with other international tourism organizations.

CAMBODIA

APSARA
APSARA is the Authority for the Protection and Management of Angkor and the Region of Siem Reap. The temple of Angkor Wat, part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a prominent example of Khmer architecture and a national symbol of Cambodia. APSARA National Authority was established in 1995 as a step by the Royal Government of Cambodia towards sustainable development, along with the protection and promotion of cultural heritage. As part of the ICC-Angkor International Coordinating Committee, APSARA partners with international teams dedicated to the conservation and sustainable development of Angkor.

CHINA

CNTO
China National Tourism Administration is the entity in charge of planning and coordinating tourism, as well as implementing market development strategies and the international promotion of China. It sustains representation offices around the world and has a number of directly affiliated associations, namely Service Center of CNTA, Information Center of CNTA, China Tourism News Office, China Travel & Tourism Press, China Tourism Management Institute and China National Tourism Institute; as well as subordinate associations: China Tourism Association, China Association of Travel Services, China Tourist Hotels Association, China Tourism Automobile and Cruise Association and China Association of Tourism Journals.

China Tourism Association
China Tourism Association is a Chinese industry association affiliated with China National Tourism Administration. The Chinese tourism industry is jointly represented by the China Tourism Association and the National Travel Trade Association.

INDIA

IATO
The Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO) is the main national body of the tourism industry in India. It has over 1600 members covering all segments of the tourism industry. IATO interacts closely with the government on all critical issues affecting the tourism sector in India, with the highest priority to tourism facilitation.

Odisha Tourism
The goal of the Department of Tourism, part of the Government of Odisha with offices in Bhubaneswar, is to develop Odisha, a state in Eastern India formerly also referred to as Orissa, as a preferred tourist destination and to place it prominently on the domestic and international tourism map; promoting sustainable tourism as a means of economic and inclusive growth, social equity and integration while effectively articulating tourism promotion and development in the spirit of a Public Private Partnership.

Toraja DMO
Toraja Destination Management Organization (DMO) was established within a program initiated by Republic of Indonesia Ministry of Tourism & Creative Economy; with the purpose of facilitating capacity building for local people and tourism businesses, in addition to organizing, exploring, and developing tourist attractions, facilities, as well as increasing accessibility to Toraja, a destination located on the island of Sulawesi.

JAPAN

JNTO
The Tokyo-based Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) promotes Japan as a tourist destination both domestically and worldwide, operating tourist information centers in Japan, gathering and publishing market intelligence and operating some 20 overseas offices in key cities around the world.

MYANMAR

Myanmar Tourism Federation

The Myanmar Tourism Federation (MTF) was established by the Myanmar Hoteliers Association, the Union of Myanmar Travel Association and Myanmar Tourism Marketing, with the blessing of the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism. MTF represents the private sector to promote Myanmar as a responsible quality destination benefitting local communities, culture, values and the environment.

Myanmar Sustainable Tour Operator Network
The Myanmar Sustainable Tour Operator Network (MSTON) was established by tour operators that were awarded with the Travelife Partner and Travelife Certified status by Travelife for Tour Operators. The members of the network share best practices in sustainable tourism, raise awareness and undertake joint initiatives and projects in order to foster a more sustainable Myanmar tourism sector.

PALESTINE

HLITOA
The Holy Land Incoming Tour Operators Association (HLITOA) is a network built by the shareholders of the Palestinian tourism sector. The association represents 50 incoming tourism professionals serving the wider Holy Land including Palestine, Jordan, Israel & Egypt.

THAILAND

TEATA
The Thai Ecotourism and Adventure Travel Association (TEATA) was founded with the aim of creating a network of like-minded tour operators and setting a high standard of nature, adventure, and eco-tourism. As part of its sustainability commitment, it has implemented the CSR MAP initiative, a Corporate Social Responsibility and Market Access Partnerships Project for Thai Sustainable Tourism Supply Chains.

The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) with offices in Bangkok, Thailand, is a not-for profit association that acts as a catalyst for the responsible development of travel and tourism to, from and within the Asia Pacific region.

SILK ROAD
The Silk Road is managed by the Silk Road Task Force as part of the UNWTO Silk Road Programme. Considered the most important transnational tourism route of the 21st century, the task force includes an extensive list of mostly Asian, but also European member countries: Armenia, Albania, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Bulgaria, China, Croatia, Egypt, Georgia, Greece, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Italy, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, Mongolia, North Korea, Pakistan, Russia, San Marino, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Spain, Syria, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan.
